Flautist Boris Bizjak is a renowned soloist and chamber musician, captivating audiences in diverse venues across Slovenia, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, China, France, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Cyprus, and Malta. A distinguished graduate of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Boris furthered his studies in Paris, earning a postgraduate degree from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot. His accolades include winning the European Flute Competition in Picardy and achieving top prizes in Slovenian National competitions TEMSIG.
About Boris
His impressive repertoire includes performances with the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, featuring concertos like Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, CPE Bach's Flute Concerto in D minor, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and the Triple Concerto for Flute, Violin, and Harpsichord in A minor, and Barber's "Capricorn" Concerto. He has also performed Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 with trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich and Bach's Suite in B minor with the Dissonance ensemble. His performances span renowned venues like St. John’s Smith Square, St. Martin in the Fields, Kyoto Bunka Kaikan Hall, and Atsuta Hall in Nagoya. Additionally, he has led masterclasses in Cyprus, Japan, the UK, Italy, and Slovenia.
Boris currently teaches flute at the Blackheath Conservatoire in South East London in addition to private students. He has taught on LMFL courses since 2018.
